Standard counts your whole net salary. Realistic first takes off your fixed monthly costs (rent, insurance, subscriptions), because that money is already spoken for. What is left is the wage you can really spend, so a purchase costs noticeably more hours.
That depends on your hourly wage. At €2,500 net a month and 40 hours a week (€15.31 an hour), a phone for €999 costs about 65 hours of work, a holiday for €1,800 about 118 hours, and a car for €25,000 about 1,633 hours, or 10 months’ salary.
A coffee for €4.50 on each of your 245 working days a year adds up to €1,102.50. At €15.31 an hour that is about 72 hours of work, for coffee alone.
Yes. Enter your actual salary and your actual weekly hours, however few they are. In a German mini-job paying €603 a month for 10 hours a week, for example, your hourly wage is €13.93, and a purchase of €100 costs about 7 hours of work.
The calculator above is the app’s own maths. In the app, your wishlist and your month’s spending are counted in hours too.
