How the working hours are worked out
- Your hourly wage. Your net monthly salary divided by the hours you actually work in a month. At €2,500 net and 40 hours a week that is €15.31 an hour. Work out your hourly wage
- The price divided by it. Headphones for €299 ÷ €15.31 = 19.5 hours of work.
- Counted in working days. At 8 hours a day that is 2 working days, 3 hours, 32 minutes. Larger amounts are shown in working months.
Standard or realistic?
Standard counts your whole net salary. Realistic first takes off your fixed monthly costs (rent, insurance, subscriptions), because that money is already spoken for. What is left is the wage you can really spend, so a purchase costs noticeably more hours.
